The Centenary Year:
2005 / 2005
Project:
MASCA (Mamelodi
Society for Care of the Aged) - Construction of Walkway
Our Centennial Project for 2004 - 2005 is to provide assistance to the Frail Care Centre in Mamelodi (namely MASCA) MASCA, is the home base where there are some 56 tenants that live there and are cared for. MASCA, is very involved within the community, as far as visiting and doing various chores for the aged and frail; like cooking them meals in their own houses / rooms, cleaning their little rooms or houses, assisting them with sowing and general chores, taking them out for outings and to the Clinic or Hospital as needed. The first project at MASCA, that's also our Centennial project to be handed over on the 23rd of February 2005, will be to provide covered walkways between the living area to the kitchen and dining area, so the old people can get there without getting wet: First the foundations for the steel structure were cast ... ... after which the steel structure for the walkway was erected: Our Centennial Project was completed on time ...
... and the handing over ceremony took place on the 23rd of February 2005: Children from the Nursery School (located on the MASCA premises) opened the proceedings by singing the National Anthem to us: Ivy Mothiba, CEO for Mamelodi Association for Care of the Aged (MASCA), was the Programme Director: A group of people from the Community, expressed their gratitude by performing a Shangaan song and dance item: DG Eben Brummer, with his interpreter, talking about the Rotary Club of Pretoria East Pres. Cheryl Jute, with her interpreter, talking about the Centennial Walkway Project The highlight of the day was the cutting of the ribbon by Councillor Phasha, DG Eben and Pres.
